Today is Green Blog Action Day.
My Environmental Series showcases natural surfaces using beautiful imagery to remind the viewer of what could potentially be lost.
The imagery is that of ordinary things; maybe some lichen, rocks on a beach, dead vines, tree bark, images from my travels or even my backyard. But these little things are beautiful, and I never know when I'll find an interesting image or texture that I'll save for use at some point in my work.
Please take care of these little things as they will eventually affect the BIG things.
Two years ago, I stopped using dyes and toxic chemicals to make my work. I now use acrylic paints, Caran D'ache watermedia crayons and an Epson 7800 pigment printer. I also almost exclusively hand stitch on my work for texture. Sure, I'm still using energy, but I am trying to do my part, not to mention trying to avoid the effects that those toxic chemicals have on the artist's health and the environment.

Wonderful thoughts on the little things...I love the series!
Your environmental series is wonderful. Love the textures. I stopped using dyes a long time back because of the effect on my lungs. I havn't looked into the pigment printers, which sound like a good idea. I have used some of the soy based inks though and like them but they are hard to find.
