Reception May 16 from 5-8pm

“Seams: Contemporary Art to Wear” investigates the idea of clothing as expression, identity and a form of communication. The creative intersection between art, fashion and design is explored using a variety of materials and conceptual presentations. The exhibition highlights works in which the artists go beyond the everyday utility of clothing to confront a range of important themes such as, self-expression, social connection and domestication. “Seams” presents the works of 12 established and emerging artists who are creating pieces using experimental textile techniques and cutting-edge digital technologies as well as traditional sewing and weaving. The exhibition includes New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow Marian Schoettle, Marisa Dipaola, Diana Moore, Diane Savona, Harry Bower, Ann Clarke, Marina Dempster, Sandra Golbert, Daryl Lancaster, Jean Parsons, Jil Weinstock and Kerr Grabowski.
